I've been looking at the information for hours. Really, it's 2:51 a.m. in the morning and I can't stop reading the site. Sorry to hear so many of our classmates are gone. Maria Vicencio is married to Edward Caspers. She has four children and now resides with Ed (and his boat) at Belmont Shores in Long Beach. Rosalie Palozolo was married to Ted Sousa. He was from one of the Hawaiian Islands. Ted passed away a few years ago. Rosie has four children and she lives in Ventura County. Can't remember the city. By the time I write another e-mail I might have it.

I really moved far away. My husband and I raised our kids (two boys) on the same block I grew up on; San Carlos Avenue. They went to the same grammar school, junior high and then South Gate High. They both played football and were on a championship team together there. The youngest, Tim, was all league and had a trophy in the hallway. The other one, Marty, just liked to knock everyone down on the field for nothing. It was fun watching those games again. Tim and two of his football buddies decided to streak during lunch at school wearing a black hood and tennis shoes. Everyone knew who they were so they were banished to different schools. Tim got Garfield High. They did let him back in to South Gate High a couple of months later.

I went on to Compton College after high school and was later hired at Paramount City Hall. I married my husband, Jerry, who was from Thomasville, Georgia and had just finished his Navy service. He thought I was rich and I thought he was rich. Lies, lies. We've been married for 44 years now so I guess something works. He goes golfing and I go to thrift stores and garage sales. He watches TV in one room and I watch it in the other. I quit work at Paramount City Hall in '62 and raised the kids. I then started to work at South Gate Municipal Court and worked as Criminal Division Supervisor for 27 years. I finally retired in Aug, 2003 from the South Gate (Superior) Court. All courts were taken over by the State and became Superior Courts. Now the same court will be closing in July. End of an era.

Shortly after retiring, on a routine medical exam, I was informed I had colon cancer. I recovered from that and had two blood clots in my leg. I'm fine now except I'm too darn old to do anything that I was working for all those years to do. We've got a boat and can't water ski anymore. We've got snow skis and can't get up or go down the hills anymore. My husband and I have raised our grandson who will be 18 this May. His prom is this weekend. Going through those teen years again have been #@*#, plus he plays the drums and guitar and plays in a band where the sound is unbearable and the singing is yelling. They sure aren't like our good ole '50 songs. We live on the border of South Gate and Downey so he goes to Warren High School in Downey. I have a grandaughter who is 8 and lives in San Jose. She's a sweety but we just don't get to see her very much. We had a cabin in Sonora, Cal. and would drive up on a Fri. night and come back on Sun. Six and a half hour drive. That was many years ago because since we got older, it took us from Fri. to Sun. to load the truck. Needless to say we sold it last year and bought a small lake house on Lake Elsinore. We can put the boat in the water and just sit in it. My fingers still work fine so my husband and I go to Harrah's Casino in Rincon all the time. When all of the employees call you by name, you know you've been going much to much. We are helping build the new addition. If we stop going now, the building was cease. Just kidding, We've won quite a few jackpots (lost too). It evens out and we have a good time and see a lot of good shows. Saw Ronnie Milsap two weeks ago. He was great.
I really want to thank you for all the hard work you put into this. It was great to read about so many classmates and to see the pictures. You have really brought back good memories. Thanks, Judy (Birkhoff) Zeigler
